The Diyala Journal of Medicine's policies on the use of generative AI tools and AI-assisted technologies are the following:
- AI is a tool and cannot be listed as an author in a manuscript. ChatGPT and similar software are not human and cannot independently create studies and methodologies, explain data, or interpret the results.
- Diyala Journal of Medicine will not accept nonhuman authors' manuscripts designed, created, or written. Authors must inform the journal whether AI tools were used to create and prepare their manuscripts. If the authors utilize generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in writing their manuscripts, these tools should enhance only the manuscript's language. The use of these tools must occur under human supervision and control. Authors are fully responsible for the contents of their study. The Diyala Journal of Medicine does not allow the use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools to create or modify images in the manuscripts.
- Reviewers must not use a generative AI tool and AI-assisted technologies to evaluate and review the manuscripts, prepare comments for the authors, or use them to decide whether to accept or reject a manuscript.
- Diyala Journal of Medicine will monitor the ethical implications of using generative AI tools and AI-assisted technologies, revise policies as they evolve, and update these policies when appropriate.
